Review: Mikyajy Celestial Metallic Collection

Friday, July 19, 2013

Every time I see Mikyajy products, I remember the fun event they hosted to launch Myriam Fares as their brand ambassador. Their new collection entitled Celestial Metallic is sure to make you go back in time (at least for a few hours).

The Celestial Metallic Collection is part of the 22K range of make-up products and comes in the same gold packaging.

I tried two of the twelve Celestial Metallic Finish lipsticks: 07 Popstar Brown and 05 Red Starlet.

The 07 Popstar Brown is a combination of sheer brown mixed with pink. It's slightly translucent and creates a flawless foil like aka metallic effect on the lips.

When I tried this on, the first think that came to my mind was, "Beyonce would wear something like this".

The 05 Red Starlet is a pigmented cherry red folded with a pop of pink. The end result very much highlights the pink rather than the red. Unlike the Popstar Brown, this lipstick is opaque in nature.

Both lipsticks are slightly creamy and lasts for a few hours before you eat or drink. Post that, they leave a slight stain on your lips along with a little shimmer here and there.

Here's a comparison swatch of both colors. Popstar Brown on top and Red Starlet on the bottom.

In my opinion, these metallic lipsticks suit certain occasions i.e. they are those special lipsticks that you can't use every day unless you are bold enough to rock it at the mall.

Also part of the new collection is the Exquisite Gel Finish Nail Polish. I'm a polish geek, I buy polishes like they are going extinct. Must stop this insta...oooh look, a pretty blue and purple! As the name states, both polishes create a gel like finish and you can achieve this in the luxury of your home as opposed to heading to the salon.

Although I love all shades of purple when it comes to nail polishes, the 06 True Blue is a favorite.

I had to apply two coats of this pristine blue color that is free of shimmer or a pearlescent finish.

The 06 Purple Plush is the color of an aubergine. A solid deep purple that would make Tyra Banks proud. The only thing that I didn't like about this is the fact that one coat of this polish creates the illusion of a black color unless light hits the surface of the nail. See the difference in the pictures?

Both polishes lasted for a week without chipping. And because it creates a gel finish, the consistency is slightly thicker than the standard polishes.

The Celestial Metallic Collection is available in all Mikyajy stores across the UAE.

Have you tried anything from this range? Do you have a favorite?

*The product was sent by the brand/ its reps for a review. All reviews are based on my personal experience & outcome thereby presenting an honest opinion to the readers.
