Having said that, I paid Biella Restaurant a visit. For the longest time, I assumed Biella specialized in seafood but I stand corrected. The restaurant located in Wafi Mall, Dubai caters to those who look forward to having a good Italian meal.
To start the evening, we ordered tall glasses of fruity concoctions known as Fruitti Di Bosco, a perfect combination of mixed berries, mint and lemonade. The Cocktail Di Frutta is the perfect blend of tropical fruits- orange, mango, guava, bananas with a splash of grenadine syrup.
For appetizers, our table was set with Gamberoni Fritti, well cooked king prawns with basil mayonnaise.
Seafood is my least favorite food but I did sample the prawns and they didn't disappoint. What I absolutely loved is the Bruschetta Pomodoro, fresh tomatoes served with basil pesto on a bed of focaccia bread.
For the main course, we followed a similar trend of seafood and meat in the form of Fritto Mistro and Scaloppine Di Pollo.
The Fritto Mistro is a seafood lovers delight- a platter of white bait, hammour along with squids and prawns served with citrus mayonnaise and chips. Every element of seafood was cooked to perfection and tantalized the taste buds.
The Scaloppine Di Pollo will always be a favorite of mine- grilled chicken breast with a special creamy mushroom sauce topped with rosemary potatoes. I dislike mushrooms, so I picked them out of this meal and devoured the rest.
The chicken was tender, flavorsome and the sauce was the cherry on top. I love potatoes especially oven baked (mum makes the best and adds her special garnish on top) and the rosemary potatoes were pleasantly satisfying.
What's dinner without dessert?
I was recommended to try the Torta Cioccolata and the Baked Vanilla Ricotta Cheesecake. Let's start with the Torta Cioccolata- a decadent chocolate cake slice served with espresso sauce and vanilla ice-cream. The medley of warm and cold was what won me over.
A small warning: the cake slice is huge and you will most likely have to share it with atleast 4 people to finish it.
The Baked Vanilla Ricotta Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis and Pistachio Biscotti was the star of the evening. For quite sometime, I've resorted to consuming non-baked cheesecake, because it's easier to make (at home). I've never really bothered with baked cheesecake at restaurants because I usually play it safe with anything chocolate.
This particular one was incredibly rich, creamy, air-whipped, melt-in-your mouth cheesecake. And the raspberry coulis? Divine!
I had an amazing gastronomic adventure at Biella and I recommend you try the Bruschetta Pomodoro and the Vanilla Ricotta Cheesecake. Biella has a special sale this month where you can recreate their pastas at home by purchasing pasta, ready-made sauces, olive oil and other products.
The service is satisfactory and you won't face parking hassles. Biella is located at Wafi Mall, Garhoud, Dubai. Book a table today by calling 04-32 44 666.
