The Food Byte: Iftar At Barbecue Delights, Downtown Dubai

Monday, May 28, 2018

When a restaurant states they serve a specific cuisine, you will always find a little deviance from it if you are...well, an eagle eye foodie. I say this because I've experienced it time and time again- a restaurant boasts of serving a particular cuisine, you go there are excited because it's your first gastronomical adventure, you open the menu and you have no choice but to raise your eyebrows at what the chef calls a medley of different cuisines wrapped into the main cuisine.

However, there are more than a handful of restaurants that never disappoint. One of them is Barbecue Delights located in Downtown Dubai. Playing host to Afghani, Pakistani and Indian cuisine, the dining experience at the restaurant is truly a delight. I've been to the venue several times especially when in the area and I always leave the place content.

Iftar at Barbecue Delights is no different. The success of this restaurant lies in the fact that it is usually booked to the brim! If you didn't book a table in Ramadan, chances are you may not have a place to get your fill.

The buffet features a handful of salads, a variety of main courses and desserts. This isn't the extravagant buffet you witness across the city but one that plays host to an array of lip-smacking dishes (also, less wastage of food is the key!).

The main courses feature freshly made flavorsome Afghani rice infused with spices, a variety of succulent kebabs (you must try the melt-in-your-mouth Reshmi Kebabs), shrimps and fish tikka, haleem, biryani and various other dishes.

The best part about the buffet is that the food is refilled as soon as the trays begin to look empty. In other words, the kebabs and other dishes are freshly made, so you are guaranteed warm food that's delectable.

No meal is complete without desserts and the restaurant's offering of Shahi Tukre, Gulab Jamun and syrup soaked Jalebi are key to concluding your iftar. I'd give the venue 3.5/5 stars. I must mention that there are no parking hassles in Downtown Dubai.

Iftar at Barbecue Delights at Downtown Dubai is priced at AED 79 per person (weekdays) and AED 89 (weekends).
