The weather tends to play havoc on our skin and there's no getting around dry/chapped skin, especially in the summer season unless you take time to pamper it. And by pampering, I don't necessarily refer to the spa. Super moisturizing ingredients are key when it comes to dry skin and with several brands narrowing down their main ingredients to shea butter and the likes, pampering the skin takes a few seconds.
I've said it before and I'll say it again- I genuinely love beauty products from France. Having used (I still do) several luxury Parisienne beauty/skincare products, I can vouch for their effectiveness. It's not only the luxe brands that do the job well but also others, namely this new brand I discovered- Marlay Cosmetics.
Marlay's Creme Reparatrice is a hand and foot cream designed to combat parched skin. Infused with effective moisturizing ingredients such as organic shea butter, olive oil and aloe vera, the cream not only repairs the dryness but also prevents dead skin from building up. I was pretty much sold when I read of the three hydrating ingredients.
Considering the product has shea butter, you'd expect the consistency to be slightly on the body butter side of things, but it isn't. It has a standard cream consistency, is absorbed instantly by the skin and upon application, I noticed a mint fragrance as opposed to the expected whiff of shea butter. That's when I realized the essential oils of peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus were in effect. It's one of those uplifting and not too overwhelming essences utilized in spas as well.
I focused the application, twice a day (for 5 days) on my feet because that's where my skin tends to take the brunt of the unforgiving summer season. Marlay's Creme Reparatrice did not fail to impress. I did notice hydrated, softer within the third day thanks to the shea butter and olive oil. Although the cream is devised to be used on the hands and foot, I use it on my elbows and knees as well.
Marlay's Creme Reparatrice is an effective product in one's beauty arsenal- pop it in your hand bag to apply on the go or stash it on your desk. If you have a sensitive nose or are averse to the fragrance of essential oils, then you might want to stray from this one.
