There are few brands that have managed to get liquid lip colors right and one of them may as well be Rimmel. I've used Rimmel lipsticks previously and they haven't disappointed- be it matte or glossy. So when news was rife that the brand was launching a liquid lipstick, I was quite excited.
Rimmel's Provocalips promises a glossy finish that is transfer proof and stays put for 16 hours. Not that we use lip colors for that long but it's good to know you are covered for about 4-6 hours when out/ at work.
Friends and family know I love my matte lipsticks but once in a while, I do venture off to the glossy side of things. I also have a tendency to transform glossy colors to matte and that's exactly what I tried to do with this.
That aside, Provocalips is a dual sided product- one side features liquid color and the other, a clear gloss that seals in the color.
The application is a breeze- when you apply the lip color, it dries down to a sticky matte. If you don't do anything, your lips will tend to stick to each other. So once dry, top it off with the clear gloss.
If there's one thing this product doesn't do is disappoint. It goes on smooth and the color payoff is exactly what you see from the outside.
The two shades featured here are Little Minx, a beautiful fuchsia and Make Your Move, a beige/nude shade with subtle hints of pink.
So does this stay put for hours without smudging or bleeding? Yes, it does. Does the color transfer at all? Absolutely not! Both are gorgeous shades but my favorite is Little Minx.
Because Little Minx is extremely pigmented, it can be a hassle to remove with the standard makeup remover. If like me, you OCD on removing every bit of lipstick off your lips, try an oil based cleanser. I dab a little bit of Clarins Pure Melt Gel and the oil breaks down the lip color. Alternatively, you can use Sephora's Oil in Gel Lipstick remover. Both do the job perfectly.
Overall, I really like Provocalips especially during occassions or events. Can you imagine a wedding or a party where there's eating, drinking etc and you don't have to touch up your lip color? Sounds amazing, doesn't it?
